　　ThedesignandconstructionoftheCanadaPavilionreflectsCanadianvaluesofinclusivity,sustainability,andcreativity.Thisthree-storystructureistheproductofcollaborationbetweentheGovernmentofCanadaandCirqueduSoleil,withbuildingexpertisefromSNCLavalin.AmongthelargestpavilionsatExpo2010,theCanadaPavilionisdestinedtoprovideeachvisitorwithaglimpseoflifeinaCanadianurbancentre.

　　FirstImpression

　　Thecurveddesigncreatesalargepublicspacethatencouragesinteractionandacommunityfeeling.Anangledaccessiblerampinvitesvisitorsbeyondtheinteriorcourtyardintothepavilion.Entertainmentinthecourtyardandonvideoscreenslocatedalongthewaitingareaencouragesinteractionamongthevisitorsandechoesalivelyurbangatheringplace.

　　Theexteriorskinofthepavilioniscomposedof4000m2ofCanadianredcedar,certifiedbytheCanadaWoodAssociationandCanadaWoodChina.Thisisanimportantsustainableaspectofthedesign.Thecedarboardsareindividuallyfastenedtoasteelframe,whichallowseasydismantlingsothewoodcanbereusedinconstructionprojectsfollowingExpo2010.

　　TheGreenWall

　　A15metreby40metregreenwallofevergreenseedlingsisabackdroptothecourtyardentertainment.Inadditiontoillustratingauniversaldesireforgreenspaceinurbancentres,thegreenwallalsooperatesasanaturalbioairfilter.GreenwallsofsimilardesigncanbefoundincitiesacrossCanadaincludingMontréalandVancouver.

　　Theinteriorofthepavilioncomprisesthreefloors.Thefirstflooristhepublicpresentation,whichreflectsCanada’stheme“TheLivingCity:inclusive,sustainable,creative.”Auniqueconferencecentreandvisitors’loungeoccupythesecondfloor.Thisspacewillbeusedforevents,meetingsandpresentationsontrade,investment,andeducationalopportunitiesinCanada.Finally,thethirdfloorhousesoperationsandadministrationtoensurethesmoothfunctioningofpavilionprograms.
