　　TheplotfailedbecauseoneoftheconspiratorsFrancisTreshamsentalettertohisrelativewhowasamemberoftheHouseofLords．TheletterwarnedhimnottoattendtheopeningceremonyofParliament．Theletterwaspassedontotheauthoritieswhotookaction．

　　GuyFawkeswasfoundinthecellaronthenightof4thNovemberwiththethirty-sixbarrelsandanumberoffuses．Hewasimprisonedandill-treatedeventuallygivingawaythenamesoftheconspirators．
