　　In1700,thereweremanypeoplebelievedwitchesinEngland.Thewitchmaybeanoldwomanorayounggirl—Sometimesamanoralittleboy!Peoplewereallafraidofthem,becausetheycankillpeoplebycursing!

　　JennetDevicewasagirlwholivesinEngland.Shewasnineyearsold.Shehadnoshoesandwasveryhungrybecauseherfamilywasverypoor.Andthepeopleinherfamilywereallwitches:hergrandmotherOldDemdike,hermotherZlizebeth,hersisterAlizonandherbrotherJames!Oh,anunluckygirl!
