InmylifeIhavenetmanypeoplewhoarereallyworthrecalling.ButperhapsthemostunforgettablepersonI’veeverknownisoneofmyChineselanguageteachers.Tomanystudents,‘teacher”isjustaword,Ithink.Forme,however,itmeansmuchmore.That’sbecauseIamluckytohaveanexcellentteacher.Hemademewanttolistentoeverythinghesaidinclass.Whatfrequentlybringbackmemoriesofmyschoolteachingishisspecialqualities.Firstofall,Iwasattractedbyhislivelywit.Heisnotasseriousasmostteachersare,andthinksofhisstudentsasfriends.Becauseofhispersonality,allofhisstudentsareclosetohim.Irememberthatwestudentsalwaysanticipatedhisclasswithgreateagernessbecausehislectureswerehumorouslydelivered,neverfailingtoprovokechucklesorloudlaughers.Second,hegaveusthegreatestgiftateachercanoffer--anawakeningofapassionforlearning.HenotonlyledusttoanappreciationofthebeautyandperfectionofChineseandliterature,butalsoarousedourgreatinterestinexploringsomethingdeeperinthisfield.Finally,Iwasdeeplyimpressedbytherespectheshowedforus.Ashetreateduslikefriendsratherthanstudents,wealllikedtovisithishomeforsocialactivitiesaswellasforacademicadvice.AlthoughitisnearlytenyearssinceIattendedhislastclass,heisthetalkofouroldclassmates,andIknowpartofhimhasalreadystayedinmyheart.
