　　ThomasEdison,theyoungestofsevenchildren,wasborn

　　inMilan,Ohio,onFebruary11,1847,toSamuelandNancy

　　Edison.Edison'slaboratoryatMenloPark,NewJerseybecame

　　thefirstofitskind,theoriginalorganizedtechnical

　　researchlaboratory,Edisoncreatedwhatisknownasthe

　　"teamwork"laboratory.Hebelievedthatinventionsand

　　researchcouldbestbeaccomplishedbygreatmindsworking

　　together.Hislaboratoryisthebasisforthemajorityof

　　ourcurrentlaboratoriesandresearchdevelopmentplaces.

　　Whilehedidn'tinventteamwork,hemadeitpopular.Until

　　Edison,mostinventorsworkedbythemselvesformanyyears,

　　sometimesgivingupbecausetheycouldn'tsolveproblems

　　bythemselves.withitsresearch"team."Inventionsthat

　　cameoutofthisnewresearchincludethemimeograph

　　machine,thephonograph,thelightbulb,andmanyothers.

　　BillGateswasbornonOctober28,1955.HelivedinSeattle,Washington.Hewas

　　averytalentedboy.Hisfavoritesubjectsatschoolwerescienceandmath.Whenpeople

　　askedhimwhathewantedtobe,healwayssaid,“Ascientist(科学家).”

　　Whenhewas13yearsold,Billstartedtoplaywithcomputers.Atthattime,compu-

　　terswereverybigmachines.Heandsomeofhisfriendsspentalotoftimedoingun-

　　usualthingswithit.Theyworkedoutasoftwareprogram(软件)withtheoldmachine.

　　Billsolditfor$4,200whenhewasonly17.

　　In1973,BillwenttoHarvardUniversity.Inhisthirdyear,heleftHarvardtowork

　　foracompany(公司)calledMicrosoft(微软).Billbeganthiscompanyin1975withhis

　　friendPaulAllen.In1999,BillwroteabookcalledBusiness@theSpeedofThought

　　(未来时速).
