　　•Swimming:Thisisapopularactivityamongalotofpeople.Whethersomebodyswimsforfun,orswimsonaswimteamalotofswimmingisdoneduringthesummer.

　　•WaterSkiing:Asportinwhichyoustandontwoskisandholdontoaropeattachedtoaboat.Theboatthenmovesforwardsorincircles,draggingyoubehind!

　　•Sports:Therearealotofsportsthatareplayedduringthesummer.Thesecanincludetennis,beachvolleyball,swimming,soccer,andmanyothersports.Bothguysandgirlsplaythesesportsandtherearemanydifferentwaystogetinvolvedwithasportsteamduringthesummer.

　　•Reading:Sittingdowninacoolplaceandreadingagoodbookisoneofmyfavoritethingstododuringthesummer.Someschoolsgiveoutasummerreadinglist,whichisalistofrequiredreadingthatmustbecompletedbeforethenextschoolyearbegins.

　　•SummerCamp:SummercampisverypopularintheU.S.A.Summercampsareverydifferentdependingonwhereyougo.Somesummercampsaredaycampswhereyouwouldgoforjusttheday(usuallyfromsomewherearound8:00amto3-4:00pm).Certaindaycampsarespecialtycampsandfocusonworkingonorimprovingonespecificskillwithcampers(suchasasportorart).Therearealsodaycampsthatareverygeneralcampsanddoeverythingfromarcherytodramaeveryday.Therearealso“sleep-away”,orovernightcamps.Atoneofthesecamps,youwouldstayforanywherefromaweektoamonthortwo.Usuallythesecampshavecabinsinthewoods,buttherearealsocamplocationswithdormitories,orlargesleepinghalls,wherecampersstay.Atoneofthesecamps,sincethereisalotmoretimetospenddoingactivities,thereisoftenawidervarietyofthingstodo,includingrockwallclimbing,horsebackriding,othersports,arts,andeveneducationalclasses(suchasmathorscience).

　　•Sports:Sportsarebasicallyayear-roundactivity.Theonlydifferencebetweensportsinthesummerandsportsinthefallisthatsportsinthefallareoftenthroughschoolteams.

　　•Television:WatchingthetelevisionisaverypopularactivityintheUnitedStates.SomepopularTVshowsinclude:

　　Survivor:Ashowintherelativelynewcategoryof“realityTV”.Thisgenreoftelevisionincludesagroupofrealpeoplebeingplacedinanunconventionalsituation.Survivorisaboutagroupofeverydaypeoplewhoareleftsomewhereinthewildernessandneedtolearnhowtosurvivewhilecompletingvariouschallenges.

　　AmericanIdol:AlsoarealityT.Vshow,butthisoneisaboutdifferentpeoplecompetingtobeasingingsuperstarinAmerica.

　　Degrassi:ThisTVshowisactuallyCanadian,buthasstartedtotakeCaliforniabyastorm.ThisisatelevisionshowaboutabunchofteenagersatDegrassiHighSchool,andtheirstruggles,problems,andsuccess.

　　Winter

　　•SkiingandSnowboarding:Thisisaverycommonwintersportandactivity.Wintervacationsareoftentakentothemountainstogoskiingorsnowboarding.Skiingisasportinwhichyourfeetarestrappedontotwowoodenstripsandyouholdtwopolesinyourhandandthenslidedownasnowcoveredmountain!Snowboardingisalmostexactlythesamething;exceptyouhavenopolesandyourfeetareattachedtooneboard,nottwo.
