　　编写译本字典,并不是只需要把每个词“真实含义”顺序排好的任务,儿时一项记录的工作.一个编者最出众的能力就是清晰的了解这个词它在过去和现在的含义.编写字典的人是一个历史学家,而不是一个立法者.举个例子,曾经有一本编写在1890或更晚在1919的字典,我们可以说"broadcast"这个词的意思是“驱散”,但是我们并没有把这个在1919年最常见的译法流传下来,而是以“广播”代替.因此,一个研读字典的编者同样是要具备预见未来的能力,一个非常人可以具备的能力.当我们在读写中选词的时候,我们可以参考它在字典中解释的它本含的用法,但是我们不要被它所束缚,因为在新的环境、新的经历、新的发明、新的感受,老的词汇总汇演变出新的用法.
