　　AboutGymnastics（Olympicsportsince1896）

　　TheFédérationInternationaledeGymnastique(FIG)wasformedon23July1881whenrepresentativesofthegymnasticsassociationsofBelgium,FranceandtheNetherlandsmetinLiège.Asagoverningbodyitisheldinhighesteembybothitsmemberfederationsandgymnasticsclubsthroughoutfivecontinents.In1897,seventeennationalassociationsjoinedtogethertoformthebasisoftheEuropeanGymnasticsFederation.However,whentheUSAwasadmittedin1921,theCommitteechangeditsnametotheFédérationInternationaledeGymnastiqueorFIG,asitisknowntoday.

　　FIGcomprisesthreeOlympicdisciplines:artistic,rhythmicandtrampoline.

　　EachdisciplineiscontrolledbyaTechnicalCommitteemadeupofaTechnicalPresidentandsixmembers.TheTechnicalCommitteesareresponsibleforthecoordinationandcontroloftheirspecificdisciplineintermsofthetechnicalrequirementsforcompetitionastheyrelatetoeachspecificdiscipline.
