　　Unfortunatelydisastercamein1995whenhefellfromhishorseandbrokehisback.Thedoctorsdidnotexpecthimtolive.However,hemadeamazingprogress.Atfirst,hecouldn’tbreatheonhisown.Hewouldneverlifewithgreatcourage.

　　Thesecondyearafterhisaccident,Christopherreturnedtofilmmaking.Healsoraisedalotofmoneytopromotemedicalresearchintobackinjuries.HemadespeechesallovertheUSAabouthisexperiences.Thisnotonlydrewpublicattentiontoresearchintobackinjuriesbutalsoencouragedalotofpeoplelivingwithallkindsofproblems

　　Fromtheirhome,ChristopherandhiswifeDanaspokeabouttheirlifeaftertheaccident.

　　Haveyouthoughtofgivingupaftertheaccident?

　　“No.fourdaysaftertheinjury,Icametounderstandmysituation.MywifeDanaandIwereinthehospital.ThedoctorsaidIwasnotgoingtopullthrough.Danasaid:‘Butyou’restillyou,andIloveyou.’Andthatsavesmylife.SincethatmomentIhaveneverthoughtofgivingup.Ofcourse,I’vehadmomentoffeelingsorryformyself,butI’veneverhadanythoughtsofcommittingsuicide.”

　　“Yes,becauseDana’ssowonderful.Wehavealwaysgotonreallywell.Ourrelationshiphasalwaysbeenfantastic.”

　　“TheydivorcedwhenIwasfour.They’regotclosersincetheaccident.”

　　“Iknowalotofdisabledpeopleneedmyhelp.ThisishowIgotinvolvedwithmycharityworktoimprovethequalityoflifeforalldisabledpeople.”
