　　My grandfather is a great man．He is very kind．He often plays with us．For his grandchildren，it is a real pleasure to be around him．However，my grandfather lived with regrets that had kept annoying him for many years．I did not know anything about his regrets，because those kinds of things were far outside the field of a young child's vision（视野）．

　　As I grew up，I came to know that his past life was filled with drinking．He regretted his unhealthy lifestyle that had made him ignore his wife and children．Thankfully，he decided to change and later he became a non-drinker．But he always regretted his years of drinking and couldn't forget what he had done．

　　Last year，as his favorite grandson，I decided to do something for him．One day，I tried to have a talk with him．As I started to talk with him，I mentioned how much he meant to me---his kindness and his ability to make our life full of happiness．I told him he was no longer like what he had been．He had changed，and changed for the better．I didn't seem to get through to him at first． So I continued，"Grandpa，I can only tell you that guilt（内疚） without making a change is wrong．But carrying guilt after you have changed to much a better person means living in the past．It is wrong，too．"

　　From then on，my grandfather slowly changed and he finally stopped living in regrets．Now，"Live in the present and forget about the past"seems to be the words he often says when we regret our past．He is right．We should live in the present，facing the duty at hand without regret for the past or worry over the future．
