1theother用法分两种情况：

　　A.后跟单数名词,表示“（两者之）另一”：Theoldmanhastwosons.Oneisadriver;theother(son)isapilot.

　　B.后跟复数名词,表示“其他所有的人或物”（此时的theother连同后面的复数名词一起,在有上下文提示的情况下,完全可以用theothers来替换）：Therearefiveforeignersworkinginthiscompany.TwoofthemarefromUKandtheotherthree(foreigners)arefromUSA.

　　2another表示“（三者或以上之）另一”：(Inthestore)Idon'tlikethisshirt.Couldyoupleaseshowmeanother(one/shirt)?对于another,要注意类似下面句子的说法：Weneedanotherthreedaystohavetheworkfinished.（这个句子中的threedays是作为一个整体来看待的,潜在的含义,是说话人之前请求过一个或更多个threedays.调侃一下,假如12．21不是终结的话,在未来会有N个threedays,对吗?从这层意义上看,another的意思还真的不外乎“（三者或以上之）另一”呢）

　　3other　其后跟复数名词,表示“其他的人或物”(此时的other连同后面的复数名词一起,在有上下文提示的情况下,完全可以用others来替换）：We　should　be　willing　to　help　other　people．　（others常译做“别人”,对不?）

　　另外,one．．．　the　other．．．／　some．．．others．．．属于常用的搭配

　　　no　one＝nobody　（没有人）,可回答who的提问.

　　　none　（一个也没有；一点儿也没有）,数量相关,可回答how　many／much的提问.
